Connecting to God (The Habit Prayer)

Communicating with God is a vital part of every believer's life, and it should be just as important in the life of a ministry.  Here, you can keep updated on the specific prayer requests of the Middle School Ministry, as well as other unique opportunities and circumstances to talk with God about.

"What other [people] is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?"  Deuteronomy 4:7

"Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."  Jeremiah 29:12

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."  Ephesians 6:18

The Persecuted Church

This section will be updated at least once a semester with a new country we want to encourage you to pray for.  Each country listed is in desperate need of prayer, specifically for the Christians in that country.  The United States is unique in that Christians are allowed to worship Jesus Christ freely.  In many other countries, such as the ones listed here, believers are persecuted for their faith.  Countries in which Christianity is illegal, many believers are arrested, harrassed, even beaten, tortured, or killed.  We need to keep them in our prayers constantly.

This Semester:

SUDAN, Africa

Civil war has ravaged the entire country, with rebel groups fighting the government (both of which are responsible for horrible masacres of entire villages across the country, specifically in the region of Darfur), with even peace-keeping forces from the United Nations being targeted and attacked.  At least 2 million people have been killed so far, another 5 million are homeless, and half a million have fled the country.

The Islamic government has reintroduced slavery, with over 200,000 people kidnapped from the south, and many young children forced to serve in the army as young as five years old.  Pray that world leaders can bring and end to this practice.

Persecution is increasing and has been more extreme since 1985.  Church services are bombed, whole villages destroyed, and church leaders murdered.  Pray that Christians can remain strong in their faith and that there would be justice and freedom throughout the Sudan.

Opposing forces continue to meet regarding a peace agreement, but it is mostly for show.  Pray that the two sides can come to an agreement to stop the violence.
